Kailan?!!
There is a cartoon in the US called "Ni Hao, Kai Lan", about an American Chinese girl and her friends.
It looks quite cute, except I think its quite silly to call the main character Kai-Lan. I don't know if its pronounced like 'kailan' the vegetable, but it has the same spelling and surely someone in the network station would have done their research.
So, it looks to be intentional. Its like having a tv show called, "Hello Lettuce!", where Lettuce is the main character. Very weird.
Hello Romaine! Hello Broccoli! Ni Hao Tao Gei!

Ultimate Air Dog competition
The highlight of Day 5 in Richmond would have been coming across the Air Dog competition. It was a lot of fun and laughter as dogs (mostly labradors) charged after a "bone", leaping off a platform into a pool. The dog that leaps the furthest (off the platform) wins. Some dogs ran after what was thrown, only to stop at the edge of the platform and sniff the water. Others couldn't wait their turn and tried to cut the queue, charging up and off the platform at any opportunity.
